EPISODE 6-THE HEART ATTACK
|
Don Meanie was pacing back and forth. He stopped and says to Splat. "I have a call out to the 'top kats' in New York and the mugs in Philly. We gotta have a sit. First I gotta know what that ratchit-fratchit did to cause this! Chubby went to get him. You get as many mugs as you can round up. Tell them to be at the club tonight." "They'll all be here." Splat says. "You can count on it." With that, Splat was gone.
Silver was holding
his ear to slow the flow of beans coming from his tear. His fear of Don
Meanie out weighed the lose of beans. "Me and this Tony from Chicago
were working the casinos. Tony was sent out there to watch over things and
make sure the skim was right. When you let me go that day, I hopped a truck and
ended up in Vegas a few weeks later. I meet up with a mug who knew a mug
who said Tony was looking for someone to work for him. We meet and hit it
off right away. Don Meanie, I didn't know what he was into till one night
about three weeks later." Silver hesitated and Don Meanie kicked five
of his legs out from under him. Silver fell to the floor with a bang.
Don Meanie started screaming at him. "!!! Come on you slimy squid,
get to the point!!! What happened!?!?" Silver continued.
"Before he would send the skim to Chicago, Tony would take five percent for
himself. He kept a record of the skim going to Chicago in a book he
carried with him all the time. He called it insurance. Don Tye found
out about the five percent, came to Vegas and took Tony out in the desert
"to sleep with the coyotes" as they say out west. Tony must have
sensed something. The book wasn't on Tony when I found him so I figured Don Tye
had it. I was wrong. Tony had put it in an envelope and mailed it to
me. I have no idea how Don Tye found out I had it, but he came looking for
me. The mug I meet when I came to town helped me get out." Don Meanie sat on
the corner of his desk and leaned toward Silver. "where is this book?"
Silver picked himself up and started for the door saying to Don Meanie,
"I'll bring it to you. You can do what you want with it. I am tired
of looking over my shoulder all the time." "No you don't!!"
Don Meanie said. "Chubby will go with you. You and the book will come
right back here. Now get otta here!!" As they were
leaving, Don Meanie made a call to the 'top kat' in New York. "This
is Don Meanie, I'm calling a meeting of the board as soon as possible. I
have a situation that needs immediate attention." Meanwhile, Burny and Bare were hiding in the truck thinking they would soon be back in Jersey, when they noticed the truck slowing to a stop. "We can't be back yet." Bare said. Burny was about to answer when the door flew open. The light of day blinded them and when they were able to see it was too late. Three popping sounds rang out. Burny called to Bare but he didn't make a sound. At the same time, Burny felt a seem rip in his side and could feel the beans draining out of it. A few seconds later, everything went dark.
